We have spent our whole lives running in order to try to keep up with the pace of modern life. Perpetual motion in order to numb the nagging itch at the core of our very being. School, work, extra-curricula pursuits, social gatherings and the endless stream of pings and notifications that fill every waking second in between (and often during) these events. But suddenly the Coronavirus Pandemic has stopped us dead in our tracks. For many of us stuck in ‘Lockdown’ this is already starting to bring us mental anguish – all of our numbing activities have stopped, and we have to deal with the reality of ‘who I am’.
My friend you are not an accident – you were created by a loving God who is at His very core GOOD and JUST. Yes the Coronavirus is very bad, it would be foolishness to say otherwise. However the issue of our dead souls and separation from our Creator, our perfect heavenly Father, is a far greater concern that all of us simply must face up to and deal with as soon as possible.
Perhaps this season of ‘Lockdown’ is the greatest opportunity we have ever been given to start again. To review our lives and decide to slow down, to re-evaluate our point of view, to ask ourselves what things are important and what is just stuff consuming our thoughts and emotions unnecessarily. We simply must stop numbing ourselves with over-activity and we must face up to the nagging wounds in our souls. God wants to heal those wounds and has already made a way for you to have a relationship with Him through His son, Jesus Christ. Humble yourself and simply cry out to Him in prayer.
Come unto me, all ye weary, and I will give you rest – Matthew 11:28
