Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home. If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities – Luke 16:9-10
Whilst reading through Luke chapter sixteen this morning I was struck by these verses. The back story is that a shrewd business manager heard he was getting the sack and in order to make some friends who’d help him back in to work he decreased the debt owed to his boss by three creditors. It was a bit of a cheeky and dishonest ting to do and so Jesus makes sure we get the point of the parable – We should use our temporary worldly resources for eternal spiritual purposes i.e. reaching the lost with the good news of the Gospel.
We need to be faithful and honest as we steward the gifts good has given us – our time, our finances, the breath in our lungs, our homes and our loved ones. Are you investing in the eternal or has the physical realm got your heart?
